In my honest opinion any book called Make It Ahead must follow the chapter titles and order below to help the user out:
The Holidays Are Coming
Company is coming in a week
Sh*t, company is coming over today
F*ck, my doorbell just rang
and lastly, Holy Sht, Everyone is in my living room and I need a Fckin’ Drink
Then within each section of the above chapters, it can be organized into Appetizer, Entrée, and dessert with accompanying beverages.
If there has ever been a book that I purchased because of the title, this is it. Make it Ahead sounds like the answer sent from someone I have great respect for. Upon opening it and reading it just a bit closer, the organization of the book is not what I expected at all. In fact, it’s the same Appetizer, Entrée, Dessert organization I’ve come to expect from her books. Doesn’t mean the recipes aren’t good. But I didn’t expect prep work to be “Make it Ahead.” By buying this book I thought I would be getting a book that would allow me to not rely on a Frozen Pie from the super market. I wish it had been organized by how much time you can make this in advance rather than reading through every recipe to find one. If its called Make It Ahead, clearly I value my time. This is an example of a snippet that is found in the corner of each recipe:
I hate digging through books, reading through a recipe just to find out its best eaten that day with 6 hours of prep. That’s called torture. Not make it ahead. There was at least one recipe that baffled me:
If I have timing issues, no I’m not making your dog some damn biscuits. I’ll still try this recipe, just when I have time. If you are still interested in buying the book Amazon.com is my favorite place to pick it up. This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive 4% if you make a purchase using this link. It helps support this blog and making awesome articles like this.
