The pros: Trader Joe’s Scallops Wrapped in Bacon is quick, easy, and fast. It’s an appetizer that is preassembled for you in the freezer aisle at Trader Joe’s. As easy as it gets as the skewers are already given to you. Minimal effort required.
The cons: Some fishiness which some people might find unpleasant. Brown sugar glaze might be a bit much to add to a fish dish.
The verdict: For $6.99, this takes a traditional appetizer and adds a brown sugar glaze that attempts to make it like candied bacon. With scallops being a naturally sweeter meat I thought it was a little unnecessary. For some, there might be an offending “fishy-ness” to this. I felt like it depended on the scallop I ate. Some were more or less one with the bacon. Others tasted like the bottom of the sea with some bacon. These made a mess even with parchment paper so be aware.

Would I buy this again? For me this is at best a maybe, I think at minimum the directions need to be rewritten. There was a lot of liquid which caused some to be steamed, but others crisped up. I thought the taste was ok, but I also know how easy it is to make these. Literally 2 ingredients and a toothpick/skewer. Want the glaze too, now you are up to 3 ingredients. I like my candied bacon away from my seafood, but think this is edible enough to say it’s worth a try.
