The pros: Trader Joe’s Tarrazu Coffee is affordable, tasty, and makes for a good daily cup of coffee.
The cons: Nothing much here to complain about beyond personal coffee preferences.
The verdict: For $6.99 you are getting a 13 ounce container of coffee. When I opened my can the smell is pretty intoxicating in a way that freshly roasted beans can be. I don’t grind mine at the store. I have my own grinder and I don’t like tasting whatever other variety people have ground before me. I was recommended to try this coffee a while back by SteveO of Aint Found a Good Title Blog (and yes, I think it’s a great title for a blog). After grinding it and making a pot of it myself, I enjoyed it very much. I tend to not stick to one type of coffee, but there are certain coffees I gravitate towards. While the container says medium dark, I thought this was more medium. My husband prefers dark coffees like Cafe Bustelo. I had him try a cup of my Tarrazu. While he had nothing bad to say about it, he came up with some interesting commentary. He told me “it reminds me of 7 Eleven coffee.” Now, I can neither confirm or deny the accuracy of this statement, but there is a simple truth there. This coffee is meant to be a well-received middle of the road coffee with wide appeal. As a medium roast drinker I liked it. It had enough bitterness without being a dark brew. I couldn’t pick up any unique notes beyond the fact that it tastes well balanced for a coffee. It may not be everyone’s favorite, but if you are having company it may be the best balance of what coffee drinkers like. I’ll buy it again.

Would I buy this again? Yes, as a daily cup of Joe this was good coffee. It’s nothing that will wow or amaze you, but it makes for a solid medium brew. Thanks for the recommendation SteveO!
